- 1 cup Cold Butter cut into small cubes
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1 1/2 cups Cake Flour (this helps create the texture of the cookie, but using regular flour will work as well)
- 1 1/2 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
- 3/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 3/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 cups Chocolate Chips
- 2 cups Walnuts
**NOTE** Levain Bakery has always explained that they choose not to chose any sort of vanilla extract in their cookies. However, if vanilla extract is something that you want to add to your bake, feel free to do so.
Here are the directions that you will need to follow in order to complete these chocolate chip cookies:
First, before you prep your ingredients, you need to preheat your oven to 410 degrees.
Now, in a large mixing bowl, you need to fully cream together all of the cold cubed butter, brown sugar, and regular sugar for at least four minutes or until the entire mixture is creamy.
Then, you want to slowly add in the eggs, but you should do this one at a time. After you add an egg, you should mix in the egg well until the mixture is fully combined, before adding the next egg.
Now, stir in all of the flours, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined to avoid overmixing. Then, lightly stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.
Separate the dough into large balls and place on lightly colored cookie sheet. You will be able to fit four cookies on one large cookie sheet. The dough makes eight extra-large cookies.
Bake for nine to twelve minutes or until golden brown on the top. Let them rest for at least 10 minutes to set.
